My staff Christmas lunch was in the basement of the Empress Hotel.

We had several items to chose from on their buffet menu. On the grill today was turkey (dark and light), roast beef with blue cheese topping, salmon and halibut, Lots of fine deserts to chose from, cakes, pies, and some creme brulle. I n the salad bar there was a fruit and cottage cheese, a cesar and a green.

In all it was very rich, very well made food of the highest quality. I paid $40 for a plate, not really worth the high price, in my opinion.

A decent, fast restaurant, with fresh fish and a medium sized selection of menu options. The price was affordable, but some of the other menu items were less than fresh. I would never recommend the baked salmon cheese motoyaki. It was rancid and the fish was not as fresh as the sushi. The sushi was great and I was able to wolf down salmon sashimi all evening without hesitation.

Stick to the basics and you will have a good, affordable meal.

I wouldn’t say this was the best vegetarian restaurant I’ve ever been to.

This is a test post in which I will mention that there are more AYCE sushi places in Vancouver than you could shake a wasabi-covered stick at. And if you’re shaking that wasabi-covered stick, be sure to protect your eyes, because if you think that wasabi burns when you put it in your mouth, just wait until you get it in your eyes!
